I was given free tickets to see the North Carolina Theatre’s production of GREASE in exchange for sharing my experience. This is a sponsored post in partnership with the the NC Blogger Network and the North Carolina Theatre.
My “hands down” favorite musical as an awkward tween and adolescent was Grease. In my world I was the Black Sandra D. dating the Black Danny Z. And this was before I ever had my first boyfriend. I had a vivid imagination. By the time I got to high school and actually estalished a courtship, I just knew that my life paralleled that of Sandra D’s. Oh what I wouldn’t do to grow up and fall in love in the fabulous fiftees. Poodle skirts and soda-pop shops seemed so much better than the baggy jeans and plaid shirts of the 90’s. And there began my captivation with all things Grease. While I never got into cigarettes, I do own a pair of Candies and skintight black disco pants. I’m saving it for that moment when I need to tell that man to shape up! Oh, and I know the words to every song on the soundtrack. Can you say, hopelessly obsessed? I had never had the opportunity to see it live on broadway. You cannot imagine my excitement when I learned that Grease was coming to Raleigh, NC!
Now, I’m born and raised in the Big Apple so I know talent when I see it. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing performance and high caliber of talent I witnessed last night. The show also stayed true to its original screen production, which made me very happy. I saw audience members beside and in front of me singing along. Although I was asked to help promote this show, I honestly must say, well done North Carolina Theatre! Well done. If you haven’t already snagged your ticketes to the show, go get them now. Performances until Feruary 14th.
